In Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, a very horrible incident occurred. A 60-year-old man and a 9-year-old Deaf girl knew each other very well as her family was his neighbors. The old man has lustful intentions towards the girl whereas she thought of him as her grandfather. The man lured her with sweet and the Deaf girl went with him as she knew him well. He lured her to his terrace where he then raped her.
When the girl did not return home, her parents started searching for her. When they could not find her anywhere, they then thought of checking the neighbor's house. They went to the terrace and caught him in the act. The family then thrashed the 60-year-old man and handed him to the cops.
The old man confessed that he raped the girl as she was 'an easy prey' since she was Deaf. She was easy prey for him as he felt that due to her Deafness she won't tell anyone and he would never get caught. However, he was caught and arrested. The police SHO, at Fardhan police station Rakesh Singh Yadav said, an FIR under sections of rape and POCSO Act have been registered against him.
On 19th January 2022, the old man was produced in a local court. The court sent him to judicial custody. The police said that they will make a charge sheet of the crime at the earliest. The charge sheet usually takes 3 months to prepare but the cops have promised to do it quickly and give it to the court so the accused can be punished.
