A month of the brutal Russian assault on Ukraine: Residential areas hit in Bashtanka

The cost of war is like an immeasurable tremor that knows no borders. This saying is especially true for Ukraine. A country that was known for its unique history and heritage. It has been turned into heaps of debris. All cities narrate the same horror story of shelling devastation and loss.

shelled, shaken, and now buried beneath a heap of rubble lies Ukraine's past, a prosperous European nation. Russia's invasion has left thousands dead on both sides. What's left are ghost towns with decimated buildings and houses. Locals are now salvaging whatever is left from the debris. The village kindergarten has also borne the brunt of the conflict.

Its headteacher weeps standing inside what was once a classroom full of children. A month of brutal assault has turned the city upside down but failed to shake the spirit of its people, they have joined hands to fight against Putin's aggression and preserve what is left of their beloved home.

A horde horror story is unfolding in Bashtanka, this southern city has seen multiple changes of hands. Residential areas have been reduced to debris, walls toned down, windows shattered and children's toys left in the rubble. While Russia has managed to tear apart Ukrainian cities. Tearing down its people has proved to be a much more difficult task.
